Crafty Belles
Thame Belles' Crafty Belles needs a new set of enthusiastic crafters to restart the group. From 2015 until the very recent past, the group focused on crochet, knitting, embroidery, quilting and any other portable textile craft. Please note, this is for Thame Belles WI members only.
Previous Projects
"Since last autumn we've undertaken quite a few different projects, some just for fun seasonal decorations and one major project to provide granny squares which were made up into blankets for Sent with Love. This is a charity which aims to provide lovely hand made blankets to oncology patients, both for practical reasons (chemotherapy can leave you feeling cold) and emotional ones; each patient is nominated without their knowledge to be a blanket recipient. They then receive a hand crafted blanket made by a total stranger. At a time when you probably feel that the worst has happened this unexpected gift can really help.
Some of our members also tried their hand at some vintage crochet with a doily pattern from the 1940s. Although very interesting, we don't know how many Crochet Belles enjoyed this one, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth to be heard about the fiddliness!
In November 2016 Thame Belles took part in the towns Remembrance Sunday Parade and placed a handmade crochet wreath at the war memorial. This wreath is now back in our possession ready to be used again which means that our donation to Royal British Legion is free to be used on all their good works and has the added advantage of not creating more plastic waste.
And we also have our very own mascot! Crochet Belle Catherine brought her thoroughly gorgeous dog Chester along to a meeting. His crochet wasnt up to much frankly but he did charm everyone there so all is forgiven!
See the below gallery for some of our work and projects and the lovely Chester!"
