Let's make a difference

Welcome to our little section of the internet where we share the latest WI news on local and county level climate actions and thoughts about how you could live a more sustainable life.

WI Climate Ambassadors

We are thrilled about the appointment of Sue Smith (Cropredy WI), our county-level WI Climate Ambassador.

"Across the county we are a growing group of women who have taken on the role of Climate Ambassador in our institute. We all come from different starting points. We all have a different story about what climate change means to us and what we can do to make a difference. It could be the state of your local river, the public transport in your community, insulating your home, shopping locally, or being interested in what and how you eat.
We are helping to get the climate conversation started in our institutes.

Our aim is to grow the conversation - discover concerns, questions and most importantly find the practical solutions each and every one of our members are using to live in a more sustainable way.
You will not be alone. There are some great resources on MyWI to get you started. We can connect you with other Climate Ambassadors local to you, across the county and nationally. We have a monthly climate update giving you information to share with your institute about what is happening in Oxfordshire. It is also an opportunity to share news on climate from your members. We have lots of hints and tips to get your members talking about climate.
You can do as little or as much as you wan
t."
To get your institute talking about climate, why not contact me, Sue Smith, Oxfordshire Climate
Ambassador to come and talk to your members and support your Climate Ambassador.

The Big Plastics Count

Did you know how your plastics are disposed of? Here's the results from one of our committee household plastics counters. More plastic waste is being burnt than ever, as a means to manage the sheer amount of plastic in our system.
